Jaxon is finally here!

Now for the post we've all been waiting for...Jaxon Nicholas Cysewski FINALLY came December 19th at 3:04 PM. After 13 hours of labor and no progress, the doctor called for a C-section so he had a cone-head but he looks great now. He weighed in at 6 lbs 12 oz, and measured 20 1/2 inches long. He is the sweetest little guy, and he brings so much joy to everyone around him. All the nurses at the hospital fell in love with him and they all went goo-goo over him! He's the perfect little boy, and we just love him! Here are some pics, more will come soon!

So, he had a little conehead...ok a big one...but its gone now and he looks amazing. I was so drugged up by the time I saw him that I didn't even notice his conehead!

Yeah, he really is that small!

Nick loves his little boy!

This was the first time I actually held Jaxon.
I had to wait over an hour to hold him!

That first day was exhausting! 13 hours of labor
and then a C-Section...Good thing he's worth it!

He's so snuggly!

This was on our way out of the hospital. He looked
so little in his carseat! The nurses just loved it!

Baby Shower!!!

Well, it took me forever but here are some baby shower pics from that wonderful day back on November 22nd. We had so much fun, lots of people came and we are so grateful to everyone who came. Well, here are some pics!

My mom made Jaxon's first cake:)

She also made chocolate suckers with Winnie the Pooh molds. Not only were they adorable but they were so good! Mmmmmm....

So much good food! I'm getting hungry just looking at these...

This was one of the cutest gifts I had ever seen, so clever too!
Baby essentials in a wreath...I love it!

Lots and lots of gifts!!!

All that gift unwrapping really wiped me out!

Well there you have it, this was such a fun day and we appreciate everyone's help. We really are grateful for everyone's help and to everyone who came. Just an update, Jaxon's due date is in 2 days so we're hoping he'll be here very soon. I'll post pictures of him as soon as he's born!

Never done...

Thinking about household chores can be a very depressing thing, but thinking about how often these chores need attention is a little more depressing. We've come up with a list of things that are never done. No need to wonder what I'm going to be doing for the rest of my life!

1-Laundry! Even the clothes on your body will need washing...(thank you Michelle)
2-Dishes-They may be done for a moment, but a meal is always around the corner..
3-Paying bills-Even if you are out of debt, there are still bills to pay every month. Cell phone, insurance, whatever else people pay on a monthly basis...
4-Making the bed-it's just going to get messy again as soon as you make it...grrrrr
5-Grocery shopping-you may be done with a week or two, but without fail, as soon as you get home you realize something you forgot and you have to go back...
6-Pregnancy-Enough said
7-Fixing the car-In our case anyway, as soon as we fix one thing, something else breaks
8-Haircuts-Unless you are bald (Brandon), you don't have to worry about it. But, your hair is always growing....
9-Eating- You may feel full for a while but sooner or later you have to eat again, unless you are survivorman...
10-Cleaning the house-In our case anyway, there's always something to clean...

So looking at this list, I realize that there is no reason for me to be bored! There's so much to do all the time! There are also other things that need to be done each and every day that don't involve housework, where too much is never a bad thing. Here's another list-

1-Repentance
2-Forgiveness
3-Loving others
4-Serving others
5-Scripture study
6-Learning about anything and everything
7-Praying
8-Laughing
9-Spending time with family
10-Making great memories with those you love

So, some things aren't so bad even though we will never reach the end. Wow, this is a pretty random post...I better get to work!

It's Christmas time! Ok, not really, but its close...

Christmas is quite possibly the most wonderful time of the year. I mean, there's even a song about it! Anyway, Nick and I have been pretty anxious to get a tree set up and start decorating for the greatest holiday ever invented. So, we bought a little 6 foot tree, any bigger and it would be too tall, we got some ornaments and we went to town last night. I got a little carried away thinking about the baby coming, and decided to add a little flair to the tree. :) Here are some pics, enjoy!

Nick sets up the tree!

Just a little guy:)

The proud father...

We're a little excited for baby to come:)

We didn't have a star, so the baby's hat will have to do for now:)

5 weeks left!!!

I can't believe it is almost time to welcome a new addition to our little family! With the due date 5 weeks away, reality is starting to hit me just a little bit. We were able to set up the crib and get his room mostly ready for him, but I think that makes me anxious more than anything. We are just about ready for him to come, mainly so I can have my body back:) Just kidding, but here is an update and a few pictures for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!

I woke up yesterday morning with swollen everything. My fingers, my ankles, my legs, my knees even, my wrists, and my mom told me this morning that my face was "a little puffy." Goodbye calves, hello kankles! This is fun:)

Looks like Nick is expecting too!

And here is Jaxon's crib. I put his ultrasound pictures in it so it's almost like he's really there!

Anyway, there you go. There's an update, and we can't wait until Jaxon comes so we can post the best post ever!

A hard lesson to be learned...

After watching the news last night, I had an assortment of emotions come over me, and not just because my hormones are 300% higher than normal. As I read the words "Barack Obama elected 44th president of the United States" a sickening feeling came over me, I felt scared, insecure, shocked (even though I fully expected it) and believe it or not, slight elation. Why? Because it is an opportunity for us all to take a leap of faith. Nothing happens by coincidence or accident, so there is a reason that this is happening at this time. I thought of the twelfth Article of Faith, which states "We believe in being subject to kings, PRESIDENTS, rulers and magistrates, in obeying, honoring and sustaining the law." What an opportunity we have to show our faith, our devotion to the Lord and to the teachings we have been taught all our lives. So, even though I don't agree with anything Obama stands for, and I'm scared to death about what the future might hold, I remember what Elder Wirthlin taught us this past conference, "Come what may, and love it." So even though it may be hard and we may not know what the future holds, this is a good opportunity to humble myself and say "Come what may, and love it."

I married up!

I knew when I married Nick that I was getting a good deal. He works hard, takes care of me when I throw up all night even though he has to get up at 4 am, always makes me laugh and well, he's a pretty good looking guy. It wasn't until my brother, Ben, aka: Mr. Bumpy, got kinda bored and found a website where you can put your face in old yearbook pictures that I realized just how lucky I really am to have Nick in my life. Even 40 years ago he was ridiculously good looking, with perfect bone structure, chiseled features, and not to mention great hair. So, here are a couple of the great pictures of my handsome man:)

It really doesn't get much better than this...

Ok, just kidding. I think it just got a lot better...

Well, there you have it. The most handsome man in the world. Sorry to all the married women out there who read and see this, but really, noone else compares to this gorgeous human being:)

Elijah.com?

So, primary is a funny thing...I was called as sunbeam teacher a while ago and Nick was called as my assistant. Its really nice to have him there because I have about 5-6 rowdy little boys every week, and they love him! They are very good for him, and love to sit on his lap:) There have been many times when we come home just laughing so hard because of things that they said or did. Kids really do say the darndest things! A popular thing is during prayer, to thank Heavenly Father for their toys. Well, its a start.

I have a little boy in my class with a speech impediment, and he can't say the S sound, so thats interesting trying to interpret what he's saying. His parents just gave birth to a little girl whom they named Summer. (congrats!) The poor little kid just can't say Summer, he tries so hard but it comes out "Dummer" every time. Hopefully she has a good sense of self worth, and that he learns to say her name correctly, or she might have some self esteem problems later in life!

We also have had our share of rough times, however. All in one day, all by one child, I was kicked, punched, poked, spit upon and elbowed. Hmmmm...not a good feeling! I have left church wondering if I really did want children.. ;) But all in all, they are a good group and I have a lot of fun learning and playing with them.

Today was the primary program...oh boy. The past few weeks the rowdiest boys of the bunch were absent, so I thought my job was pretty easy. But, as my luck would have it, I had a full class today! 5 extremely wiggly little boys with the attention span of an ant. It was a victory in my eyes just to get the kids up there and mumble their parts. One little guy decided that he needed to jump off his chair to sing, I'm just glad that he didn't face plant into the ground, the bishop would have called child protection services and released me from my calling. They did a good job though and I was very proud of them all for being so good:)

During class, we talked about being nice to animals, and I asked each of them if they could be any animal, what would they be and why? One little boy said that he would be a bear because they eat aliens. I don't remember reading that nursery rhyme...

I think the highlight of the day though, came from an unexpected source. We had a visitor for sharing time, and I asked him what his name was. He replied "Elijah." "Well, its nice to meet you Elijah, we're glad to have you here", was my reply. His comeback was unforgettable, something I will never forget. He said, "You can call me Elijah.com if you want." It took me a minute to realize just how funny that was, but when it hit me, I lost it. How in the world does a four year old know the dot com phraseology?! Very funny, we had a good laugh.

Moral of the story, sunbeams are mostly hilarious. As hard as they are sometimes, it all pays off when they say something funny and when you see the light turn on and they understand something pertaining to the lesson. Kids are wonderful, truly heaven sent:)

Oops...

We have been somewhat chastised by someone who we hold dear to our hearts, to update our blog. So, to a big gween wady faw faw away, you know who you are - this is for you. I"m going to take a page out of Adam and Darcy's book and tell you about the history of the name Cysewski. Let's see what i'm really getting myself into:)

Ok, we're not having much luck....

Still no luck....

Why can't we be the Smith's or Johnson's....

Maybe if we change the spelling a little bit?

OK, we had some luck with Czyzewski. Our ancestors from Poland went through Ellis Island and people were americanizing names left and right. So, someone decided to make our lives a little easier and drop a couple z's and we now have Cysewski.

Here is the Czyzewski Family Crest, it's a little hard to see, sorry about that:) I'm not quite sure what it means either...but its nice to look at!

The name Czyzewski is the 41,021st most popular last name in the United states, with Smith and Johnson leading the way at numbers one and two, respectively.

Wondering how you really say our name? Well here it is..."chee-ZHEFF-skee" ("ZH" = the sound of "s" in "pleasure"). So, good luck with that one!

The -ski is an adjectival suffix, which can be added directly to a stem -- as piekarski means "of the baker (piekarz)" -- or can be compounded with other suffixes. Two common suffixes that can precede -ski are: 1) -ew- or -ow- (basically the same thing, dependent on whether the stem ends in a consonant classified as hard or soft)

I'm A -SKI, I Must Be Noble! If you're talking about names found in records from, say, the 14th century, names ending in -ski were borne by nobles. Back then, all surnames were noble! In other words, only nobles used surnames.

Cool, We're noble and great!

So, in my search, I also found some similar last names, such as the great Duke University men's basketball coach, Mike Krzyzewski. Ok, that might be pushing it a little, but anyone who knows me, knows that I'm a huge Duke Basketball fan...Go Blue Devils!

Tytus Czyżewski (1880-1945) was a Polish painter, art theoretician, Playwrite, member of the Polish Formists, and colorist. Here is one of his famous paintings. I'm sure it's bound to be in our schoolbooks someday, replacing Van Gough, Picasso and Leonardo DaVinci...

Elizabeth Czyzewski works in filmography. She has worked with many movies, such as "Get Smart" with Steve Carell, and "Blades of Glory" featuring Will Ferrell. She also was the production assistant for the TV special, "Frontline: Storm Over Everest (2008)"

Well, I think this post is long enough, researching Cysewski is not only time consuming, but also a little tiring for little old me. :) All in all, even though Cysewski is a hard name to say and spell, I'm thankful to be part of this family, I couldn't ask for a better bunch of people! I'm sure there will be lots of laughs and good times ahead, and considering our ancestors came from Poland, perhaps at family reunions will consist of Polish hotdogs, cucumber salad and apple tarts:)

The Clean Underwear Testimony

We have certainly grown fond of testimony meetings in North Idaho...especially this experience we had on Sunday. An older lady arose to share her thoughts and feelings. Bless her heart. Nick and I agree that we have never been a witness to such an event, but we both feel that now that we are out of the situation, it is something we can look back upon and laugh. So, this lady proceeded to advise us of certain things, and she was quite intense about it. She would raise her voice and stretch her arms out over her head, then put her hands together in front of her face and slowly lower them, much like unto yoga. Nick commented that it was much like an evangelical church meeting, and I had to agree. At one point, she pointed her finger at the congregation and firmly and sternly advised us to 'go to the temple! always put on clean garments in the morning!' I must say, we have never been advised to put on clean underwear in church before. It was quite the experience! She then abruptly ended her sermon with 'in the name of Jesus Christ.' Um...I was sure I didn't hear her correctly...but sure enough, she didn't say 'amen.' A few people mumbled an awkward amen as she proudly walked back to her seat. It was quite the experience! Moral of the story: wear clean underwear!!!

The ultrasound!!!

Oh, another ultrasound...this one was a little more nerve-racking however! It was such a relief to see that the baby had 4 chambers in his heart, his heart was beating nicely and everything they looked for in the brain was there. Momma can stop worrying now! So, when the ultrasound lady was trying to get a head measurement, we ran into a bit of a problem...baby's head was apparently stuck in my hips, so she was trying to get him out...she was digging the thing into my hip bone! OUCH!!! She proceeded to try and push baby out of there with her hands, saying 'come on, get out of there!' I was about to slap her and say the same to her! Good grief! All in all, she was a very nice lady and it was a great outing. We decided on Jaxon Nicholas for the name, and we are so super excited for him to come!!! Sorry the picture is upside down, thats why they call me Captain R! Consider this post concluded:)

Our little family!

We're pretty new at this blogging thing, but we'll give it a try anyway. Nick and I met in high school, but we weren't really friends, mostly just acquaintances. He came home from his mission in July of 2007 and we started hanging out with a big group of friends. Soon, it was just Nick and I and by Christmas we were engaged. We were married March 14th in the Spokane Washington Temple. We found out on April 19th that we are expecting our first child, obviously its our first! We had our ultrasound yesterday and we know now that it is a little boy! Well, thats pretty much our life right now!
